The Canadian Arthritis Referral Tool (CART) was created out of the need for better information from referring physicians.  The tool was created using qualitiative methodologic survey techniques in a sample of Canadian Rheumatologists.  The tool is currently undergoing validation in Southwestern Ontario involving over 800 family doctors.  A multi-centre validation project is currently being developed.

We simply fax this back to the referring physician's office and ask them to complete it in an attempt to gain more information to make a more informed triage.
